Cabinet of Curiosities

I have just finished this collection of jewelry for summer!

It all started last week when I found an antique 1920s dictionary that had really interesting illustrations that just happened to fit perfectly on old bone game pieces from France…and once I started I couldn’t seem to stop and the hence the one piece of jewelry became a collection of curiosities. I even put together a fun display at the shop with an antique cabinet. These are all one of a kind so if anything catches your eye do feel free to contact me for availability and also the paper is sealed with a special epoxy/resin glaze that makes it all safe to wear rain or shine!!!

I hope you are all having a wonderful summer and the Curious Nest is open for the next two weeks and then we will close from August 8th until Aug 31st (in true French tradition) and will re-open September 1st for fall. Although you can still contact me anytime via email and I will probably be adding things to our Facebook page and the Blog.

Enjoy the pics and come see them in person if your curiosity is peaked…

Enjoy the new pieces!

I also made a few pins as well including one amazing blue medal one for $130 and 3 smaller sterling safety pins for $34 each. So come take a peak!

In addition to the new jewelry I have also added a few small gift ideas including Debbie Savar large candles $14ea, antique French holy cards $3 ea and a variety of small French onyx plaques $30-$90. Also two sets of vintage Beatrix Potter books from the 1930s-1940s in the box set $90 per 6 book set. So if there is anything that catches your eye feel free to email me or just come in and say hello. Also The Curious Nest will be closed on Easter Sunday April 24th. We will be open Thurs-Sat from 11am-6pm for you to come peruse the new jewels and gifts.

Flowerbell Earrings

Spring is full of inspiration for me with all the trees filling up with leaves and the flowers pushing their way back into the world! So here are some fun cluster earrings I just finished with spring in mind. The mother of pearl bells are vintage and were a gift from a sweet friend and I wanted to use interesting organic shapes with the pearls and other nugget stones to create a very natural feeling to the whole. So enjoy and I will have them in the shop starting on Thursday if you want to try them on for a new spring outfit!

Spring Trinkets

I had so much fun making the last small collection of flower and spring jewelry that I just kept on going…

Here are some additions to my spring jewelry collection that are sweet and fun for everyday or for a little gift and I will have them in the shop starting tomorrow on April 1st…I’m not fooling.

All the earrings and necklaces are $38 each and everything is sterling or gold-filled with gemstones and all made by me!

Also if you are on Facebook come see us at http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Curious-Nest/137183043007939?sk=wall and while you are there check out the cherry blossom necklaces that I am offering for $30 each and all proceeds will be donated to the American Red Cross to help with the disaster in Japan.

Happy Spring everyone!

Love Tokens

In anticipation of Valentine’s Day I have created a small collection of love token jewelry with hearts and other symbolic charms.

I love the Victorian sentiment behind love tokens and imagery and am always trying to collect up interesting little trinkets to use in my work and these are some of my favorites.

So enjoy the pictures and I will have the jewels in my shop (The Curious Nest) starting tomorrow in case you would like to see them up close as well as some great heart and love inspired vintage objects, local art and other treasures. Also feel free to forward this to your significant other if something catches your eye…I have found this to be an easy way to send a little hint for gift ideas.

Mucha’s Seasons

As many of you know I am a huge fan of art nouveau design and the art of Alphonse Mucha has always been something that inspired and moved me so this is an homage to his work as well as a more modern take on the combination of natural elements and representations of the most romantic of flowers and other imagery. I spent this month creating these little treasures and am so pleased with the way they came out so enjoy and if anything catches your eye feel free to email me about availability or better yet just come see them in person at my shop The Curious Nest!

We also added new antiques including one of the most incredible mourning pieces we have every found. We also have new heart and star ornaments by Kim Groff-Harrington just in time for Valentine’s Day and we are also restocked on Circle Creek Soaps. We hope to see you soon and in the meantime enjoy the new jewels.

The Garden of Eden

I just finished a small gold collection for the holidays and am so excited about having it in the shop tomorrow for the  busy 10 days before Christmas! I wanted to have a few pieces that were precious and perfect for holiday wear as well as being tiny works of art.

The Garden of Eden is my inspiration for these one of a kind pieces made with vintage French centerpieces and unusual gemstones. From Divinity to Temptation, I hope that you enjoy these pieces and if you want to see them close up come see me in the shop where I will be working away on more stocking stuffer earrings. Also while there are presents for oneself, I also have tons of new pieces of jewelry, local art and antiques all under $100 and quite a few under $30 as well (as you can see in last week’s post).

Snowflakes

I adore this time of year when the smell of cut christmas trees and spiced oranges permiates the air and children wait impatiently to dust off their sleds and hit the snowy hills. So with all of this in mind I created a small collection of stocking stuffer jewelry under $40 to wear during the holiday season. They are all made with sterling charms and findings and of course my favorites are the snowflakes in three sizes. I also have lots of different snowflake earrings with pearls, white sapphires and quartz that aren’t pictured but are in the shop. All of these will be in the window display this month so if you would like a closer look just come on in! And I can’t help but have my fingers crossed for a white christmas.

Pearl Drops and Flowerbells

Here are some of my latest creations! With trying to open the shop in time for the holidays I feel that I have fallen a bit behind in taking pictures of the new jewels but I promise now that the dust is settling and we are enjoying our new routine of being in our tiny little store I will get the images out in a timely manner. Many of you have commented over the years about how much you like my teardrop collection and my language of flowers collection so my latest pieces are sort of a combination of the two. Pearls drops galore with little hints of plant life here and there…they will all be priced and in the shop on Friday or just email me for availability and Happy Thanksgiving!

Halloween Inspirations

As many of you know Halloween is my very favorite holiday! I love all the talk of things that go bump in the night, beautifully crafted jack-o-lanterns on everyone’s porches and warm apple cider. So I look forward to creating my October jewelry collections most of all and save pieces throughout the year in order to put together a whimsical collection of creatures and amulets to inspire all. This year the collection is called ‘The White Witch’ and is a combination of one of a kind pieces created to protect, inspire and amuse. I hope that you enjoy them as much as I do and feel free to email me about  availability. Soon when our shop is open you can come see them there but in the meantime here are some pictures to tempt…
