New Store in Edmonds!
Hello Everyone! It has been far too long since I have updated our blog but it was definitely time now that we have moved our Seattle store to Edmonds! Oh what a difference it makes to have room to spread our wings and our curious treasures while experiencing the vibrant art community that is our town. We loved Seattle but the siren song of Edmonds was too strong to resist. We hope you will come visit our new shop and enjoy the plethora of delights we now have to offer. More updates very soon!
Spring Celebration Open House
Hello Everyone,
We cordially invite you to celebrate Spring with us during our bi-annual Open House event on Saturday April 23rd from 6pm-8pm!
We are featuring new artists who have all tapped into the joy of the season in various mediums. I will also be creating a collection of jewelry inspired by the gardens of Frida Kahlo and the unofficial Saint/Muse herself. She is one of my heroes and I hope to do her honor. The show will run through the end of May so fear not if you’re away on the day of the opening!
Our featured artists:
Lisa Lamoreaux – fine art original paintings
Pilar Loizaga – ceramics
Sarah Bishop – textiles (stunning pillows and cards)
Nancy Nelson – elemental assemblages
Debbie Savar – paintings and handmade soy teacup candles
Andrea Savar – jewelry and more
We hope you can join us! There will be French pastries and libations. Below is a preview of all the new work which will be available in the shop starting Thursday April 21st. Looking forward to seeing you all soon!
Antique Arrivals from France!
We’re very excited to share this latest batch of treasures from France!
One of the most unusual pieces is a plaque featuring The Last Supper set on green onyx. It’s extremely detailed and has beautiful edges filled with angels. We also have a large font of Jesus and a smaller angel font both with onyx backing. There are several micromosaic pieces including an intact necklace with all the little tiles and drops, a spoon and two crosses. There are also bronze trays, a collection of small antique statues, a gorgeous French enamel match holder and souvenir purses with pictures. My favorite of the new arrivals is the collection of antique French cameo pins and pendants. The angel is spectacular along with the tiny Three Graces and more traditional profile of a woman with pearl edge.
We have lots and lots of antique medals in right now of all sizes including some unusual Saints, matching medals which are great for jewelry and even some large Joan of Arc medals. It’s best to come in and sift through the Saints but there are St. Benedict medals, Jerusalem medals, Baby Jesus medals (rarely see these) and other treasures.
We will have everything in the shop starting tomorrow but feel free to email us if you have questions or need anything shipped. We are more than happy to send items anywhere in the US.
The Holidays Are Here!
Hello Everyone,
It’s here! The holiday season is in full swing! First we want to let you know we will have regular shop hours this week (Thurs-Sun) but hopefully we’ll be open more the week before Christmas. In the meantime, here are some of the new treasures that we will have in the shop this week!
New ceramics by Elena Wendelyn including heart bowls, leaves, fabulous platters and wall hangings. We adore her creations and are quite smitten with the Siberian reindeer plate as well as so many of her other new designs. There is something for everyone’s budget! We also have more luminaries by Elise Koncsek. These sell out fast so best to get in quickly as this will be the last batch of the year.
I’m also adding new jewelry daily to the shop as well as to my Etsy store. https://www.etsy.com/shop/andreasavar?ref=hdr_shop_menu There is still plenty of time to ship before the holidays or to get in any custom orders.
And we are fully stocked with my my new coloring books. You can also purchase them on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Curious-Coloring-Book-Faery-Forest/dp/0692536787/ref=sr_1_10?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1447827645&sr=1-10&keywords=the+curious+coloring+book&pebp=1447827655211&perid=0MKDBH2PAE88XYC61MKA
Our French antiques and found objects are waiting for special homes this season and we hope you will come take a peek at all our treasures!
We also wanted to take a moment to thank all of you who support our shop this holiday season and year round. Please know that by buying local, handmade and antiques you are making a difference directly in our life and our artisans’ lives as we try to keep our little nest unique and independent. The money you spend with us goes directly back into the community here and we feel the ripple effect of good it has on so many levels. Thank you!
Happy Holidays,
Andrea and Laurent
Five Year Anniversary!
Hello Everyone,
It’s my favorite time of year! We are welcoming this October with much joy and the celebration of the five year anniversary of The Curious Nest!
As a thank you to all, we will be giving away a bar of Circle Creek Soap with every purchase over $20 while they last. We are so truly grateful for all of you who have in many ways become wonderful friends and treasurers of the unique and handmade.
Also we want to introduce two new artists that we will be carrying this autumn. Elise Koncsek is the creator of whimsical laser cut luminaries. She is a local artist and this is her autumn collection of shadow throwers that feature crows, owls, mushrooms, kitties and more! The large size are $60 each while the small size is $30. These are charming additions to the home or excellent gifts.
We would also like to present the work of Heidi Estey. She is also a Seattle artist who works in several mediums (watercolor, scratchboard, and more). We have several of her original works in the shop as well as her hand set greeting cards. She is a jewel and brings humor and joy to her offbeat subjects like the bats in love or the octopus tea party.
In addition, I also have new jewels in the shop this week including my All Saints necklaces and the beginnings of my All Hallow’s Eve collection. Time for shrunken head earrings and typewriter key crows to start. More in the works…
We hope to see you all soon and in the meantime, we thank you again for a wonderful five years and hope there will be many more to share with you all.
Cordially,
Andrea and Laurent
Thank you Seattle Times!
We were surprised and delighted today to find we were mentioned in the Seattle Times as one of their favorite places to shop! I blushed with pride after reading the lovely words they wrote about my jewelry creations. How did they know the garden faeries and mermaids are my muses?! Many thanks to the Seattle Times for the wonderful mention! It made for an exciting Sunday at the shop and I hope an even better week to come…my faery fingers are working on new jewels for Mother’s Day.
“Local designer Andrea Savar’s jewelry, sold in this charming Bryant/Ravenna shop, looks like something crafted by fairies in a magical glade, or washed up by the tide from some mythical sea — all made from found objects, vintage treasures and a variety of metals and gemstones.”
