January Happenings!

We are back open! We are excited about all our 2013 projects and very happy to be back in our little nest!

But first things first…we must make a bit of room! So for the month of January all Lark Pottery is 30% off the original price. These are all one of kind pieces so if there is one you have had your eye on, now is a good time to come in! I’ve attached a photo of some of the pieces we have in the shop.

Now for our next upcoming event! My book release of “The Curious Ways of the Winships” will be at the shop on Jan. 19th from 11-6 , we will have hot apple cider and treats for all, as well as 100 of my freshly printed books ready for you to take home! We hope that you can join us and we will be open regular shop hours. So come by for art, antiques, jewelry and maybe even a book or two.

If you can’t make it in but still want a copy, it is available on Amazon in print for $16  and also on kindle for .99 cents.

In anticipation of my book release, Laurent gave my website a beautiful make-over! I am thrilled with it and here it is if you want to take a peek: www.andreasavar.com

Also a few pictures of our new display window all freshened up the store for a New Year. We hope it is a Lucky 2013 for everyone!

We hope to see you all soon!

Holiday Shopping Guide in Vignettes!

Hurray, the holidays are here! I love this time of year as our window twinkles and our whole neighborhood lights up with beauty and joyful events. So to get in the spirit of finding unique gifts for loved ones (and self J) I have created a little shoppers guide through themed vignettes. The price details are on our facebook page but here are the images and you can always email me for more info!

In addition to the vignettes I added in a few stocking stuffer or hostess gift ideas, I have restocked our found object ornaments $12-$18 each, our found object sachets $14 each (holiday and Paris monuments) and also a new addition are Fairy Delights which are little vintage tins filled with found trinkets (a shell button, abalone shell, starfish, antique key, Madonna medal, quartz crystal, antique game piece) $14 each and already wrapped in a cute cellophane bag!

We also have some beautiful antiques in at the moment including the St. Therese holy water font that I included in the pictures. It is truly stunning!

And hopefully next week I will be unveiling my fine jewelry collection…lots of sparkle!

We hope this finds you well and we look forward to seeing you for the holidays!

The Ancient Garden Collection

Just finished these! The ancient garden collection is made with a combination of antique micromosaics, gemstones and insects interspersed. There may even be a bird or two hidden within the leaves and flowers! I have been working on these pieces for over a year (collecting, creating and weaving) in order to bring together all of these pieces in this one of a kind collection. I hope to convey whimsy and joy in these tiny creations! They are available in the shop or if you would like a price list for pictured items check our facebook page or email me for a full list. In the meantime…here are the pictures!

Transit Token Necklaces for “Sandy”

I wanted to make something special in order to help with the aftermath of

cyclone “Sandy”. Then I remembered some of these antique transit tokens that

I had stashed away for a rainy day and thought they would be perfect for

raising a bit of money for the cleanup efforts that are currently underway

on the East Coast. The Curious Nest will donate 100% of the sale of these

limited one-of-a-kind necklaces to the American Red Cross. If you see one

that you like just message me or come by the shop starting Thursday. Our

goal is to sell them all before Thanksgiving so we can get the money to the

charity as quickly as possible! Here are the pictures and the descriptions

below of each token. The 17” necklaces are $30 ea and the 32″ necklaces are

$50. Enjoy…

Victoria Obscura

Here it is! My “Halloween” collection!!! I know many of you wait all year for these goodies, this year I managed to get it all finished rather quickly so there is plenty of time to wear these lovelies through October and beyond. Last year was Edgar Allan Poe and this year is an homage to the Victorians.

The collection is titled “Victoria Obsura” in reference to their love of all things mourning but there are other pieces (good luck symbols and creepy critters) as well that encompass the romance of the era. I hope that you enjoy and do let me know if anything catches your eye. There is a price list below and I will have everything out in the shop on Thursday…I also decorated the window for Halloween so there are lots of fun things in the shop right now!

Fall Antiques

We have a huge selection of unusual pieces in the shop right now. It is the perfect time to start nesting for autumn and why not add a few French  touches! Our ephemera selection is over flowing with handpainted prints, engravings, postcards and photographs worthy of framing. We also have in many holy water fonts and other religious art fresh from France. As well as vintage medals, chains, pins and much much more…here are few pictures! Also check out our weekly highlighted items on our Facebook page.

“Gone Fishing” for summer!

Just a reminder that we are open this week Thursday July 26th-Sunday July 29th for regular store hours.

We will then be closing up shop until Sept. 6th so we can go hunting for new treasures for Fall!!!

So come see us if you have any last minute summer shopping to do. I have made a few new jewelry pieces combining pearls and gems and we have some unusual antiques in as well as new local art pieces by Debbie Savar and Kim Groff-Harrington.

Bastille Day Celebration!

In celebration of summer and the French Independence Day, we are planning on having a 4 day celebration at The Curious Nest!

It will include some new antiques from France (pictures attached), my latest jewelry collection “Souvenir de France” which is all made with antique French found objects, gemstones and charms. Each of the pieces is one of a kind! (pictures attached and feel free to contact for prices)

And from Thursday July 12th-Sunday July 15th we will be having a special give-away where  all purchases over $20 will receive a free Circle Creek soap of your choice (freshly delivered this week) or an antique French postcard of your choice! We will also be holding a drawing for two $50 Gift Certificates. So come on by and put your name in the bowl, have a nibble of something sweet and see our new treasures celebrating France!

Also check out the other stores in our neighborhood like Happy Planet whose summer custom made hula hoops have been a huge hit with the kids (and grownups). Queen Mary for tea/brunch or my favorite: breakfast. Pair for a bit of French food and drink (their happy hour is fantastic) or Gaudi for some spicy tapas and refreshing Sangria! Summer has finally arrived and our little 55th street neighborhood is embracing it!
